Our Courses Come see how easy it is to learn today’s most popular dances. Our courses build upon the previous week’s curriculum and then gradually adds new material. This reinforces the learning process and helps to build a good foundation as well as confidence. Each course is presented with lead and follow techniques. All ages welcome. No partner necessary. Social Dance Goals.
The emphasis is on
having fun, learning to dance with a variety of partners and to dance to
a variety of music. Dancers focus on the partnership, learning to lead
and to follow, and how to navigate around the dance floor without
disrupting others.
Salsa is hot, spicy and full of exotic Latin flavor. Our courses focus on salsa mambo and are popular with dancers of all ages. We offer several levels of Salsa ranging from beginning to our more advanced variations course. East Coast Swing is danced in a circular pattern to all kinds of rock music. We teach single, double and triple step timing and periodically offer beginning and intermediate East Coast Swing courses. Watch our calendar for upcoming classes. West Coast Swing is danced in a slot, usually to slower swing, blues and disco music. We offer several levels of West Coast Swing ranging from beginning to our more advanced variations course. Cha Cha is fun, energetic, sexy and flirtatious dance. We teach International style which is characterized by stepping onto a straight leg giving it a stronger dramatic appearance. Rumba has a slow rhythm. Because of the Latin hip movement, it is considered to have romantic, flirtatious and sensual overtones. Nightclub Two Step
is a relatively new
dance. It is danced to slow mellow music and considered one of the more
practical and versatile social dances.
Samba is a lively, rhythmical dance of Brazilian origin. Samba is characterized by slight downward bouncing or dropping action movements. We teach international style samba. Waltz is a smooth ballroom dance and is characterized as soft, gentle, and romantic with elegant long sweeping movements and turning figures. We teach American style waltz. Foxtrot is a smooth ballroom dance and is characterized as a progressive dance with long continuous movements across the floor. We teach American style foxtrot. Definition of Class Levels Level 1 – For beginning students with no dance experience, or no previous lessons in their course of choice. Learn rhythm and basic steps. Level II – For students who have some dance experience in their course of choice. Students will usually have completed a basic course or Introduction course. Continue to learn basics and develop style and technique. Learn simple patterns. Improvers
– For dancers who are comfortable with the
basic steps in their course of choice, or who have completed a beyond
basic course. Work on style and technique. Learn intermediate patterns.
The
improver level also has additional multiple sections of this
course (A, B, C).
